Punish corrupt politicians, Keyamo tells Buhari

Lagos lawyer, Festus Keyamo, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to be deterred by the criticisms that he is being selective in his anti-corruption war.

Keyamo asked Buhari to punish those already found guilty of enriching themselves unjustly in the last administration.

The lawyer, who said this in a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, said those criticising the President for being selective in his anti-corruption war were those culpable of corruption.

He said, “Those who say that President Buhari is selective in his anti-corruption war should wait till 2019. Vote out the All Progressives Congress and deal with those he (Buhari) overlooked. For now, lets us deal with those (corrupt politicians) that have being caught.”

Keyamo said no matter the deluge of criticisms against him on the social media, he would continue to support the President in recovering looted funds.

He said it was unfortunate that those who blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan for not probing people for corruption-related offences were blaming President Buhari for waging war against looters.

He added, “Some people think that useless tweets and funny logic would dissuade some of us from supporting President Buhari’s efforts against looters. I laugh. What do we really want in this country? Goodluck Jonathan didn’t arrest anyone for corruption, we complained. Buhari has decided otherwise, we still complained.

“People that have killed thousands by pocketing funds meant to protect lives are now claiming human rights abuse. Some complain about those detained with court orders for stealing money meant for the procurement of arms but are silent about those who are in their graves as a result of the fraud.

“By going after looters, Buhari is bowing to the wishes of the masses that brought him to power. And that is the constituency that he needs to satisfy.”
