Semenitari Resumes as Acting Managing Director of NDDC

The immediate past Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, has resumed at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as the acting Managing Director, her aide who pleaded anonymity, told THISDAY last night.
However, THISDAY gathered that the federal government has not officially issued a statement to that effect.

When contacted, Mr. Femi Adesina, the spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari, advised THISDAY to crosscheck the information with the office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF).

On his part, a Director in the Office of the SGF said he was not aware of such appointment.

But a close aide to the former commissioner confirmed to THISDAY last night that her boss had resumed in her current office and she is to function in acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive managing director.

An award-winner journalist and media manager, she had served in the Communications Directorate of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation during the 2015 presidential election.

Before then, Semenitari, married to Mr. Henry Semenitari, a former Managing Director, Unity Bank Plc, and himself, a global award-winner banker, had served as Commissioner for Information and Communications under the former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi Administration.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has sacked the Chairman of the commission, Mr. Bassey Dan Abia.

Dan Abia, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2013.
