Nigeria: aftermath Boko Haram rehabilitation starts in North East

Nigeria's Federal Government has commenced the process of reconstruction of thousands of damaged homes, government offices and facilities destroyed by rampaging Boko Haram fighters when several communities were captured and during the battle to retake areas occupied by terrorists, Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulraman Dambazau (retired), revealed Thursday in nation's capital, Abuja. The minister said the effort of reconstructing the north east and rehabilitating millions of Internally Displaced Persons would require the effort of the government, public spirited individuals and organizations, adding that government will heartily welcome voluntary contributions from local philanthropists and foreign donor organisations willing to help out in the onerous task of returning decency, order and business activities to the region. He said government will support credible organisations like the West Africa Conflict and Security Team in its efforts to re-establish peace in the North-east, especially areas affected by the six-year insurgency when the military completes its ongoing mopping-up operations in the areas. Noting that winning a war against terrorism is important, he stressed that after the conflict, winning the peace after the war is over should be considered as equally important. (AGI) .
