ORTOM FREES PRISONERS TO MARK NEW YEAR


The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has approved the release of five inmates from Gboko Prison who have been serving various jail terms just as he congratulated the Benue people on the occasion of the new year celebration.

In a statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Odeh Ageh, the lucky inmates who were released include John Anyam, Dickson Ako, Terngu Agum, Aondonengen Msughve and Iorfa Mbakighir.

Ageh noted that the Governor’s approval of the release of the inmates followed recommendation by the Benue State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy.

The Commissioner explained further that the Governor who also felicitated with the people of the state on the occasion of the New year celebration also expressed assurance that the state would overcome its current challenges and move to the next level of development in 2016.

The Governor, in the statement also reassured that a new Benue was being born because the initiatives of his administration are designed to serve as pillars of development now and in the years to come even as he enjoined them to march into the New Year with confidence trusting in God that things will get better.

Ageh said the Ortom administration was already taking decisive steps to reposition the state through good governance, revenue security, agriculture-driven industrialization, quality education and health and provision of other critical infrastructure that will help in securing the future for the state.
