Bauchi First Lady Vows to Alleviate Plight of IDPs


The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar and founder of Bauchi Sustainable Economic Empowerment and Peace Initiative(B-SWEEP) has reiterated the commitment of her organisation to allievate the plights of Internally

Displaced Persons IDPs residing in the state just as she declared that women are capable of making the difference

in the current change crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The First lady who made the vow yesterday while fielding questions from Journalists at her office in Bauchi said that she was passionate about the welfare of IDPs, particularly women and children as they are the most vulnerable groups of the society.

"Due to the challenge of insurgency in some States of the north east part of the country,we have a large number of IDPs residing in the state and most of them are women and children"

My NGO is passionate about the welfare of IDPs of the condition they find themselves. So, we will continue to show them empathy and give them support in order for them to have a sense of belonging" She said

The first Lady said that she initiated her NGO as a complementary effort to support the government in its drive to uplift the living standard of the people of the state.

She said that her NGO has five objectives which include women empowerment, maternal/infant health, education, agriculture and peace, adding that her vision for humanity is to impact the lives of people.

She said"Eight months into this administration has been rewarding and satisfying because we have touched the lives people. We have interacted with people living with disabilities."

Hajiya Hadiza who disclosed that her NGO was embarking on an advocacy tour to all the twenty local government areas of the state to seek the collaboration of traditional rulers and stakeholders, added that her NGO will still be sustained after the end of the administration.

She also threw her weight behind the ongoing anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari-led Government as well as the one being carried out by the Bauchi state government to sanitise the system, and encouraged women in the state to stand and be counted in the change crusade of the present administration.
