Oba of Lagos Warns Against Indiscrimate Construction of Shops

The Oba of Lagos, HRM, Oba Rilwanu Aremu Akiolu, Akiolu I, has warned unscrupulous people using his name in the indiscriminate construction of kee klamps and canters on the highways and market places within the Lagos Central Business District, Ebute Ero, Apongbon loop and other strategic places in the State to desist from such dastardly acts or be made to face the full wrath of the law.

In a statement from the Palace released to the media yesterday, the respected monarch said he had observed for some time this unwholesome development and wishes to put an end to it by alerting the general public.

The statement affirmed that the monarch believes such conduct would undoubtedly obstruct free flow of traffic and aid crime and criminality in those areas, adding that he has, therefore, alerted the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State; Director of State Security Service as well as the Executive Secretaries of Lagos Island Local Government and Lagos Island Local Council Development Authority; Area Commander, Area A Lion Building and all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) covering Lagos Island “to ensure that people involved in the act are brought to book and assist government in ensuring free flow of traffic” in the areas.

The statement added that Oba Akiolu also intends to send out his White Cap Chiefs and others to ensure that sanity is restored on Lagos roads.

“Henceforth, anyone caught in using my name to commit this criminal act will face the full wrath of the law,” the statement said.

“Gov Okezie Ikpeazu’s governorship should be consolidated in order to avert a situation where the judiciary which is the last hope of the common man is regarded as an institution of compromise where the highest bidder smiles home with unmerited justice”.
